Adult 50+ Monthly Birthday BashFree ActivitiesWe want to celebrate our members' birthdays! Come and enjoy a low cost lunch while celebrating all the members with birthdays for that month. Lunch will vary. If it is your birthday that month you'll get free admission. Registration is required so we order enough food. Registration will close one week prior to the birthday bash celebration. A Birthday Bash meal is FREE for Center Members celebrating a birthday during the month. You must call or register online to reserve your birthday meal. Members pay $12 if it's not your birthday month. Non-members pay $15.School Year 26-27

Adults Age 50+ Activities Membership for 2026-2027Senior Center MembershipsSoWashCo Community Education offers a variety of activities, trips, resources and educational programming for adults age 50+ in a welcoming environment where social engagement thrives. Are you recently retired and missing your network of co-workers? New to the area? Love to play games? Take local trips? Meet new friends? Stay fit? Learn new skills or develop a hobby? Our Adults 50+ programming is designed to meet the social, educational, health and human service needs of people 50 and over. Join us for an exciting lineup of weekly activities. Whether you're interested in Bingo, Bunco, 500, Poker, Mah Jongg, Book Club, Train Dominoes, Hand & Foot, crafting or one of our support groups such as Lighten Up Weight Loss, Living Well with Diabetes, Grief Care, Caregiver Group, or Courageously Continuing in Your Season group, check us out! These activities are all part of your yearly membership as well as other special events that are free or at a reduced price for members throughout the year. We have Lunch and Learns, Birthday Bashes and more! Membership is only $20/year! That means it's under 50 cents per week to participate! And if the $20 is a hardship, let us know. Members generously sponsor others so no one will be turned away due to finances. So whether you are ready to play a game of cards, discuss a book, socialize at a lunch or special event, exercise, or attend local trips and tours, there is something for you at SoWashCo Community Education. We are also always looking for volunteers to help with our welcome desk, be activity leads, special events, etc. Contact us if you are interested in finding an area to get plugged into. Late arrivals will need to wait until the next round starts. If you are available to help set up ahead of time or clean up after the event please let the Bingo group leader know. Cards for a Cause (Card Stamping/Recycling and helps support the Adult 50+ birthday program) Supplies Provided! 2026-2027Free ActivitiesHelp support our birthday card and birthday bash program by creating new cards with stamps and recycling old cards. No experience needed. One of our staff or volunteers can help get you started. This open time is designed for you to work alongside other creative types during our open crafting time. Bring a friend or meet some new ones. You do not need to be an Adult 50+ member to volunteer for this program but must be 18+. All supplies provided to stamp new cards or recycle old ones. Enjoy seeing projects that others are working on, share ideas, meet new people and have fun! We use the birthday cards to mail to our Adult 50+ members on their birthday and sell recycled cards for .50 each or 3/$1 to help support our card making program and birthday bash. Caregiver Support Group through FamilyMeans Adult 50+ 2026-2027Support GroupsA welcoming space for caregivers caring for loved ones with dementia, Parkinson's and other chronic conditions. Learn and reinforce positive self-care, give and receive encouragement, and enjoy support and understanding from others in similar situations. With professional staff facilitation, the groups explore issues such as: • Balancing roles and responsibilities • Maintaining personal balance • Planning for legal needs • Understanding and dealing with the realities of chronic illnesses • Coping with depression • Developing support systems • Accessing community resources Facilitated by FamilyMeans. Courageously Continuing In Your Season Support Group (2026-2027) Adult 50+Support GroupsHave you recently found yourself in a new season of life but facing unexpected challenges? It might be a health issue, more time available due to retirement or loss of a spouse, a move to a new location, loss of a pet, financial hardship or just feeling lonely and desiring new friendships. If this sounds like you, please join us! This open-ended group will be facilitated by one of our senior volunteers who herself lost a spouse and has faced a variety of new challenges. Debara Warnsholz understands the value of supporting one another and is filled with energy to connect people, share resources and listen to people's stories.School Year 26-27 -

Whether you're into knitting, crocheting, quilting, painting, diamond art etc., bring your supplies and join us! We also have supplies for card stamping to help support our birthday programs. Hand & Foot Card Game- Daytime 50+ members 2026-2027Free ActivitiesIf you could play cards for hours then this might be your game! Similar to Canasta or rummy, you'll want to check out Hand & Foot. Teachers are available to show you how to play. To win this game, be the first person to discard all your cards. Join us for an enjoyable way to socialize and connect with new friends. Meets on Thursday afternoons at the District Program Center. Hands in this game can take awhile so it's best to come 10-15 minutes early to ensure starting in the first round.School Year 26-27 -

Could you use a little support and practical tips for day to day diabetes management so you can feel your best? Join us for a friendly and informal group discussion designed to share facts and ideas. This group is facilitated by Diabetes advocate Connie Allen. She is a nurse and Certified Diabetes Educator and has been a Cottage Grove resident since 1996. Class meets the third Tuesday of the month. This program is intended for anyone with diabetes. Spouses and support persons are also encouraged to attend! Join us Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m. for American Mah Jongg, a game of both skill and luck. We play for fun, not money, with three or four players seated around a table using tiles, racks, and a "Hands and Rules" card. New players are welcome to start at any time, and it is not necessary to attend every week. There are members willing to work with new players to help them learn the game.
