Do you love to read? Want a place to discuss and share reactions with like-minded people? Join us for this monthly book discussion group that meets second Tuesday of the month. Group members will choose the authors and titles for the year from a list of popular books. Most will be available at the public library. Back by popular demand! Join us for a delicious Thanksgiving banquet lunch at Treasure Island Casino followed by a fantastic show featuring Branson’s funniest comedian and world class fiddler DOOFUS DOOLITTLE! If you like Christmas music, and good clean family entertainment, you’ll want to register with all your friends to see Treasure Island’s OZARK JUBILEE! Includes a special tribute to our veterans. For those that would like to go out on the casino floor we will have a little time before lunch. Lunch will start at 12pm. The lunch menu is: Turkey, Stuffing, Potatoes, veggies, rolls and assorted dessert bars. Vegetarian option available but must indicate ahead of time at registration. Included in our trip will be the show ticket, plated banquet lunch, lunch tax & tip, and coach bus transportation. There are no refunds after the registration deadline has passed (October 15th) unless a substitute can be found or you can gift to someone. Times are approximate and subject to change. We will meet at the District Program Center in Cottage Grove (8400 E Pt Douglas Rd S) at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am departure. 4:15 PM eta return back to Cottage Grove. Canes/Walkers welcome on bus! Help support our birthday card and birthday bash program by creating new cards with stamps and recycling old cards. No experience needed. One of our staff or volunteers can help get you started. This open time is designed for you to work alongside other creative types during our open crafting time. Bring a friend or meet some new ones. You do not need to be an Adult 50+ member to volunteer for this program but must be 18+. All supplies provided to stamp new cards or recycle old ones. Enjoy seeing projects that others are working on, share ideas, meet new people and have fun! We use the birthday cards to mail to our Adult 50+ members on their birthday and sell recycled cards for .50 each or 3/$1 to help support our card making program and birthday bash. A welcoming space for caregivers caring for loved ones with dementia, Parkinson's and other chronic conditions. Learn and reinforce positive self-care, give and receive encouragement, and enjoy support and understanding from others in similar situations. With professional staff facilitation, the groups explore issues such as: • Balancing roles and responsibilities • Maintaining personal balance • Planning for legal needs • Understanding and dealing with the realities of chronic illnesses • Coping with depression • Developing support systems • Accessing community resources Facilitated by FamilyMeans. The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content along with handouts, demonstrations, and additional resources. At the end of class, the students will receive their certification card along with instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Student book. From getting started with your business, to collaborating with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.
